Saturdays in Taipei
I was so happy for our first weekend in Taipei. Business Mode: ON and Tourist Mode ala "Shopaholic Monster" : ON. This would be truly the first time I can enjoy Taipei and bring my handy DSLR and be a "blogger at work". Our plan was set for the weekend. First is to have breakfast with the Philippine Team and Anthony that will be leaving for Malaysia and back to Manila, After which we would be heading to the infamous Shilin Night Market.
Our 1st Taipei weekend is almost over and I have truly enjoyed and juiced every second of it. Sharing the shots I took of the city, it's culture and it's people.

This is the place were we are staying in Taipei- Ximen. Just right beside the Ximending Business District and so much restaurants, shops and convenience store.
(L-R) Anthony, Z and NIkki. Fist plan of the day is to have brunch with Anthony (Hiring/ Training Manager). His flight is 3pm and will be heading back home to Malaysia and Philippines on the next couple of days. Anthony has been so good to us. Loves to talk and never a dull moment with him. He even joins us on our non-stop shopping adventures and we are just commuting. Such a nice person. ;)
Philippine Team having brunch. ;) Please forgive my eyes...I just woke up, splash water onto my face and headed down the hotel.
This is were we are having brunch- authentic Taiwanese menu, just in front and steps away from our hotel. It is really an adventure all the time here. "Best in Charades" is the name of the game. We will just be pointing for the things that we want and hope and pray for the best that both parties understand each other...most of the times it works though. ;)
My meal. Lots of protein: Pork + Sardines + vegetables + rice and pickled veggies. Would you ever believe that this is just 50NTS or 75Php. The meal was so delicious and ever since I have been coming back...
Another version of the packed meal: Breaded Pork Chops
The lady is making and stacking all wooden boxes that would be used for the meals they served. Such an efficient way...I would love to take home one clean and empty box as a souvenir...hehe (Filipinoism kicks in...)
I was a victim because of unable to read Chinese. I mistakenly grabbed this packed juice for Iced Lemon tea...to my horror on my first sip, it was Jasmine tea. It tasted like Sampaguita, very floral on your mouth...haha. It was such a good laugh.
This is where we usually buy our breakfast for the day before heading out for work. It is their own version of Breadtalk, only better, yummier, affordable with more option to choose from.
Very delicious pastry just for me...hehe
Mayi getting her fix for daily dietary sugar needs. ;)
Art + Cake...looks very delicious. Here we have Dog Cake. many Taiwanese have dogs for pets. I love these people. They are dog people like me...makes me miss Milan even more. :(
This cake looks like Mr. Pringles...or not. I wish I can read what the sign says. ;)
Tiger cake...I love the animated feature of the cakes.
...yup, this is still on the same store. Like what I said, they have more option than our Breadtalk. They have Taiwanese dumplings
...more Taiwanese dumplings
Taiwanese Fashionista...I honestly would like to cover street fashion in Taipei, however due to language barrier I don't know how to ask permission from them. All I can say is, "they do LOVE FASHION!!!" If I get a chance I will create a separate blog for the their streetwear.
After brunch, we decided to look for the nearest supermarket since it would make more sense to buy stuffs that we need compared to 7-11 which has higher prices. Good we found one, Mirada, I think is the name. We got our laundry detergent, hangers, tissue etc.
Nope...these scooters are not on display for sale. This is one of the Taiwanese culture- Trust and Respect for each other. There are millions and millions of commuters using scooters. They would leave their scooters (..sometimes with the keys still on it) on the street and no one would ever bother to take them. I am really amazed... ;)
Clean traffic and wide intersection with safe pedestrian lanes.
Blogger at work (...chos) I look haggard...hehe. I still have a lot of pending photos to post here. I thought I would have a hard time here. Apparently I am enjoying myself.
Still to come: Shilin Night Market and Ximending Night Market. I would also reveal the good buys I bought so far. I am so excited that finally I found what I have been searching for months back.
I will see you guys soon. Weekend is over and I have to rest now since I have to wake up early and report to work.
Ciao!!!
