I Heart Taipei Wk 1

Get ready for one huge photo dump (...almost 1 week worth of photos and stories due to internet issue) and a lot of stories to tell. I have been dying to post this ever since we have arrived here.

August 2nd, 12:35pm, we have arrived at Taipei and I am just happy that there is no time difference and adjusting would not be much difficult. It was crazy raining in Manila when I left due to the typhoon however there was a weather shift in Taipei. It is much like in the Philippines during Summer. Very hot and humid...I was wearing a layered long sleeves outfit with a hat and I was sweating like crazy if I am not inside an air-conditioned room.

I am just happy that we have arrived safely in Taipei, had an enjoyable plane experience with China Airlines and had a very wonderful and warm colleagues with me.

Time of arrival at Taipei local time. No timezone difference...loving it and no need adjusting. ;)

First time I fly China Airlines. Had a very good flight meal...just 2 hours of plane ride to Taiwan
Picture
Shopaholic Monster "cam-whoring" to pass time on the plane ;) I watched SATC 2 (for the nth time) the night before the flight  and was inspired by Carrie Bradshaw's hat on her way to Abu Dhabi, so I wear my hat as well. ;)

The Phiilippine Team flying to Taipei for training and more. Here we have Mayi ;) Shopaholic like me... ;)
Picture
Nikki, my seatmate on the plane and  I found out that he loves gadgets and machine so much. ;)

Stolen shot of Z...sorry. Hehehe ;)

Good things that most signs have translations. Could you just imagine if there weren't???

On our way to get our luggage. Why walk if there is walkalator...hehe. So lazy of me ;) but things would change quickl6 since most of the time I would be walking around the city. :(

Our welcome wagon was there waiting for us and drove us to our hotel in the city. The following shots are the traffic scene is Taiwan...It so amazing that this very long highway is a freeway.

Public transport keeps on improving with their infrastructure. Their MRT system here is amazing. I will be uploading my MRT shots soon. ;)

This is our block of the city. When I first saw it, it reminded me of Manila's Chinatown... very busy city.

This is our Condotel...Grand Tokyo-Taipei in Ximen Taipei City. We were greeted by Dolphine, Project Manager of our Taipei office. She was also our tour guide on our first day showing us how and where to go. I still need to take a picture with her...she is one of the nicest and sweetest girl ever.

They have booked a total of 3 rooms, 2 single rooms and 1 room with 2 bedroom. Dolphine took us to our rooms one at a time. In this photo, we were staying at Nikki's own personal space. ;)

...now Welcome to our room. My rommie is Z. I so love our room. Most of the rooms are designed this way in such an ergonometric method. Our bedrooms are lofts, very Minimalistic and Japanese in approach. Just like what the name of the hotel suggest. The only set back of our room (...which I endured for 1 week) was no internet connection and there was a drip on our aircon system which was under my bed. But everything is all good now, the management was very apologetic and made us feel like VIP.

...on top is my bedroom
Picture
Amenities such as built-n cabinets, fridge, hot and cold shower and more cabinets that also functions as our stairs going up to our bedrooms. Such an ingenious design, I would have never thought of it ( and I am a graduate of Interior Design.) ;)

My bedroom, underneath the airconditioning system. We just have to turn-off the aircon at night since it is really really cold. ;)
Picture
Take note, the bedroom is not a standing room. (So bawal and mga models...) hehe. Very simple yet very functional. I love our sheets.
Picture
We have to get connected immediately and one of the first things that we did was to get our Taiwan Sim Card, our phone provider is Chungwa. Calling is cheaper compared to texting...hooray for me. I am always a huge fan of calling vs. texting. ;)
Picture
Dolphine wrote this for me. It is a little difficult to converse with the locals since they barely speak English, "Best in Charades" ka dapat dito sa Taipei... I have to get something from the hotel's reception (Wireless Internet). I gave this to the reception and I don't think they understood the message and I got help from the Hotel's manager before everything got fixed.
Picture
Local Beer...Z's favorite drink. (just kidding...)
Picture
Ximen has its very own night market...amongst the millions and millions of places to shop here. The hard part of shopping is finding that unique and one-of-a-kind piece. I bought these last Thursday and I was so happy. I bought a Leopard print slim necktie...
Picture
...and these rings. I love these pieces so much. One is the Toy Soldier ring and a ceramic white Skull ring. ;) I just can't get enough of cocktail rings nowadays.

I hope that my warning was sufficient...about the huge photo dump and loads and loads of stories (...nonsense or otherwise). I am loving my stay here in Taipei so far...I am with the most caring people. Mayi, Nikki and Z "Philippine Team" and Taipei Team.

I will continue updating my blog as soon and often as I can so I can share how the daily life of the SHOPAHOLIC MONSTER goes as he invades Taipei.

Next post would be my shopping experience in Shilin Night Market.

See you soon guys...till my next post here.

Kisses.
