Louie Mamengo Final Runway Show

I feel so honored and privileged that I was part of Philippine Fashion History as Sir Louie Mamengo unveiled his best and "final" collection. It was exciting and at the same time difficult time for everyone as the country has lost a brilliant and talented designer to Lung Cancer last March 2011. Executive Producer Sir Joey Espino is a very dear friend to the late designer and opened the show, regaling the happy life of Mamengo and the struggle with the  lung cancer and how he wanted to do a "final collection" to share to everyone his struggles, hope and success. I may not him personally but being a witness to his final collection is epic and his story will continue be an inspiration to everyone.

Opening the show is Anne Curtis with a very Parisian Aesthetic. Very young and stylish, setting the mood of the collection for everyone.

Although most of the designs color palette is black, Mamengo ensured that he used plaids for prints and adorned collection with bright accents and accessories.

His final two pieces in the collection were very symbolic: if black – a bold, uncompromising color – represented his difficult but rewarding journey through life, the blazing red dress that actress Ann Curtis wore and the wedding gown that was modeled alongside it represented his dreams of hope and life.
